Criccieth - Wales on Rails

  • Departure Monday, 23 September 2019
  • Return Friday, 27 September 2019
  • No. of nights 4

Criccieth must surely enjoy one of the most beautiful locations to be found anywhere. Situated on the coast at the edge of the Snowdonia National Park with all its attractions there is something to do for everybody. Castles, walks, mountains, beaches, scenery, trains, golf, water sports, fishing, plus excellent visitor attractions in abundance.

Lion Hotel

Situated in Gwynedd, North Wales. Criccieth is a small town but its compactness makes it an attractive resort.

All streets lead to the castle or at least seem to have a castle view. But if it’s not the castle at the end of the street then it’s the sea!

There are fantastic sea views either west toward the Llyn peninsula, east toward Snowdonia and Porthmadog, or across Cardigan Bay toward Harlech and its very own medieval castle.

Full day: We will join the Welsh Highland Lion Hotel Railway at Porthmadog (cost included) and travel through the countryside to Beddgelert. Here we will stop for a coffee break and you will then head on to Betws Y Coed for lunch.

Full day: Travelling south to Tywyn and the Talyllyn Narrow Gauge Railway. Where we will board for Nant Gwernol and return to Abergynolwyn, before returning to the coach (cost included).

We then head back on a lovely scenic journey via Barmouth  and Harlech, famous for its castle.
