Eastbourne is an elegant resort at the foot of the South Downs in Sussex. Friendly hotels and exciting events make us one of the country’s favourite holiday destinations.

The shingle beach and 3-mile long promenade draw many tourists. It has a reputation for being one of the sunniest places in the UK. The well-kept gardens and pebble beaches attract many retirees who enjoy the fresh sea air and arcade-free promenade.  The town has an excellent range of amenities including four theatres, museums, a bandstand which hosts music concerts and several parks.

Cumberland Hotel

The Cumberland Hotel was

established in 1856. It has

undergone a substantial investment

and renovation process to combine

classic elegance, with modern

comfort.

As soon as you walk through the

doors, you are made to feel welcome.

There is a spacious reception area,

which encompasses a large lounge

area, leading to the Devonshire bar

and the sun lounge, where you can

take in the sights over the seafront,

with the bandstand been the main

feature.

The Cumberland has 72 tastefully

decorated, centrally heated

bedrooms. Most have sea views and

some have balconies. All bedrooms

include en-suite facilities, colour

television, direct dial telephone,

hairdryer and coffee / tea making

facilities.

Itinerary

Full day: We begin today’s full day

excursion by visiting medieval Rye.

It’s considered to be one of the best

preserved of the ancient Cinque Ports,

with its quaint cobbled streets, historic

half-timbered buildings and smugglers’

inns. In the afternoon we travel along the

coast to Hastings, overlooked by William

the Conqueror’s castle and famous as

the location for the popular TV detective

series, Foyle’s War.

Full day: We head west to the

cosmopolitan city of Brighton. Here there

is plenty of time to enjoy its great diversity

of attractions, from the Royal Pavilion and

Palace Pier, to the quirky shops of the

Lanes. Our return journey will take us via

the lovely South Downs countryside.
